Where to start with Les Sisters?
Comic or cartoon, first volume, first episodes: my advice for stepping into the world of Wendy and Marine.
By Spidermas · Updated on November 6, 2026
For a first discovery, choose a format and an interest. Start with volume 1 to discover the comic from its beginning. If another theme appeals more, the suggestions explain why to pick it and what to consider first.
Choose according to your interests
Comic or cartoon: which one first?
Comics let you revisit a panel and read at your own pace. Choose them for readers who enjoy drawings and speech balloons; read together if the text feels difficult.
Animation introduces the voices and moving characters. Pick an appealing episode synopsis, then pause before continuing: enjoyment matters more than completing a season.
Which comic volume should you read first?
Volume 1, “Un air de famille” (2008), is the logical way in: it introduces Wendy, Marine and their parents, and sets up everything that makes the series fun. But since each album is a collection of standalone gags, you can easily start with another volume. My suggestions by profile:
The first comic is a straightforward starting point for meeting the sisters before comparing other themes.
- Who is it for?
- For discovering the comics with a clear starting point.
- Before choosing
- Starting here does not mean you must buy every following book.
Volume 5 — Quelle chouchoute !
The publisher’s synopsis has Marine with a leg in plaster. Wendy expects peace, but her sister still finds ways to provoke her: a concrete introduction to their rivalry.
- Who is it for?
- For readers who enjoy Marine overturning Wendy’s expectations.
- Before choosing
- The title alone does not describe every situation in the comic.
Volume 16 — Cap’ ou pas Cap’ ?
Marine’s challenges give this choice a clear theme: games become an excuse for sisterly provocations.
- Who is it for?
- For readers drawn to games and challenges between sisters.
- Before choosing
- A challenge theme does not mean one continuous adventure.
Volume 4 — C'est nikol crème !
Snow, outdoor games and looking after the grandparents’ dog give the publisher’s synopsis a holiday atmosphere.
- Who is it for?
- For holiday situations and everyday humour.
- Before choosing
- This comic is not a guide to the whole family.
Summaries of every album are on the volumes page.
Which episodes should you watch first?
Season 1 (2017) is the best way in: it sets up the family, the neighbour Madame Georgette and Maxou, Wendy’s boyfriend. After that, pick at random: the episodes are not serialised.
Maxence goes camping for a weekend with no phone and Wendy can’t cope: perfect for understanding the character.
Dad prefers his boomerang to the water park, and his daughters confiscate it their own way: a good taste of the parents’ side of the humour.
“Ma Sister la chouchoute” — season 4
Marine wrongly believes Wendy is the favourite: sibling rivalry in one episode.
Marine believes she is a real princess: an easy episode for the youngest viewers.
The selection links open character profiles, not video players. To find an episode, consult the episode list and check its title and availability with the broadcaster.
Depending on the child’s age
Ages 4-6
The cartoon, as a family. The gags rely a lot on visuals and the episodes are short.
Ages 7-9
The core audience: the comic to read alone, and the series. Marine is seven and a half, so kids relate instantly.
Ages 10-13
The recent volumes, more focused on social media and on Wendy the teenager, plus the site’s quizzes to test their knowledge.
Adults
Read them with your kids: many of the gags about the parents are written for you.

What supports these recommendations?
The comic situations are checked against Bamboo Édition synopses, linked under each recommendation. The reading advice interprets these details editorially; it does not promise that every reader will agree.
