Parents’ advice

What age is Les Sisters for?

What booksellers say, what the series contains, and my fan’s take for each age group.

Many parents ask this before buying an album or starting an episode. Bamboo does not display an official age range for the main series, so here is what I was able to check, and what I think.

✔ Guidance checked on 6 November 2026 on the E.Leclerc page for the first TV-series pocket novel.

What booksellers say

Booksellers place Les Sisters at ages 7 and up. The E.Leclerc page for the first pocket novel based on the cartoon, “Exposé grandeur nature”, says “from age 7”, with an age range of 6 to 9.

For the albums of the main comic, I found no age indication from the publisher. So I treat “7 and up” as a guideline, not a rule.

What the series contains

Nothing that is a problem for a child: no violence, no rudeness, and arguments that always end in making up. The themes are those of every family: sibling jealousy, cuddly toys, school, first crushes, overwhelmed parents.

Two things to know, though. Wendy is 14, so some gags are about crushes, looks and social media. And the series plays a lot on Marine’s mangled French (“nikol crème”, “namoureux”, “pestouille”): a treat for kids, but not a spelling model!

My take, age group by age group

  • Under 6

The cartoon as a family, yes. The comic is better read together: there are lots of speech bubbles and the wordplay needs explaining.

  • Ages 6-7

Marine’s age. The first albums are read with an adult, then alone as reading becomes fluent.

  • Ages 8-11

The ideal age: the child reads alone, gets the wordplay and recognises themselves in one of the two sisters.

  • 12 and up

Kids relate more to Wendy. The recent volumes, more teen-oriented, still go down very well.

  • Adults

The series has a tongue-in-cheek side that makes parents smile, especially in the gags about William and Sandrine.
