William

Who is William?

William is the father of Wendy and Marine, around 35 years old. He works as a comic book artist, allowing him to express his creativity daily, which he also uses as an excuse to play around instead of working.

His personality is contrasted: he oscillates between moments of childlike behaviour (as in the episode "Alerte Georgette") and a more serious attitude (as in "Ah non, pas les vacances"). In season 2, he seems to have become stricter with his daughters.

His name and his wife Sandrine's were revealed in the episode "Un Toutou rien que pour Nous". They are both Pisces.

William's character keeps, season after season, that same swing between childlike lightness and firmer moments with his daughters — a duality that remains one of the series' recurring comic devices around the father figure.

Standout episodes for William

William shines in episodes that play up his childish side, his job as a comic artist, or his relationship with Sandrine.

William in the Bamboo comic

William’s character carries a touch of autobiography: like William Maury, one of the show’s creators, he’s a comic book artist. This wink from writer Christophe Cazenove to his partner shows up in several strips where William uses his drawing work as an excuse to dodge family chores — a running gag faithfully carried over into the cartoon, notably in the episode « Alerte Georgette ».
